The wait is almost over

Well, I finally found a good deal on some hairpin legs, which means the table making will resume shortly.  I have about 7 more table tops waiting to be finished, and I have legs for 3-4 of them on the way.  Now its decision making time… I have been trying to decide if I want to leave the legs as a natural finished steel, or if I want to add some fun to them.  Here are some of the ideas that I have been throwing around.
I love the look of color blocking the legs, and it would look really cute with a gold color (a good gold, not a gross one), or I could keep it simple with white, or add a bright color.

Another option I have found that I love is a leather hairpin leg shoe.  The cost of these is pretty high though at $25 per shoe.  I’m thinking about doing some research into how to make them though, because they really do look pretty straight forward.
I’m also thinking about adding some pops of color to the tops of the tables, and maybe some stain on a few.  I like the idea of a simple design (or maybe a really cool bold one) to add to the visual interest, and give it a more modern feel.

So many decisions, but I just can’t wait to get started, and share the transformations with you!  I know this is a new blog, but if anyone that runs across this post has any input, I would love to hear it.

FINDING INSPIRATION

Lately I have been in a creative rut.  Im not sure if it has to do with the cooler weather, visitors, sick kids, or just laziness, but I really need to get back at it.  I recently (recently meaning about 2 months ago) bought quite a few cable spools to create tables out of, and I have only made one table so far….can you say slacker?!  I had told myself that I would make one table at a time, and once it sold, I would make a new one, but this strategy has been somewhat of a failure so far.  Not that I didn’t sell my first table, because I did, but ever since it was picked up, there has been this empty space in my family room, just waiting to be filled with another table that has yet to be made.  You would think that the emptiness in the room would serve as motivation, and in some ways it has, but it has been cold in my garage, and at least one of my kids has been sick almost constantly this winter (I know, excuses excuses).  I think the hardest part is trying to find legs for these tables.  I really like the hairpin legs on these tables since they add a modern flare to the the rustic/industrial feel of the table top, and can be incorporated into quite a few different room styles.
This is the first table that I made, and I loved the teal hairpin legs!  10704322_964242510257844_5805069612802292336_o
Despite my procrastination, I can’t wait to try different variations of this table!  Maybe some stain, different color legs, or a completely different style of legs all together.  I am determined to make at least one more in the next 10 days!  I can’t wait to share my next one with you!
These are a few inspiration tables that I may pull some ideas from

I also love the idea of putting a modern geometric base on a table like this.  Just imagine an industrial top on one of these bases.  I know that look might not be everyones “thing”, but I love the idea!

Finding inspiration

WELCOME!

Thanks for visiting!  I am hoping that this blog will be a way for me to share my projects, my learning, my successes, and my failures, because I think that they are all important aspects of who I am, and why I love creating as much as I do.  When I was first starting on this journey, I loved blog surfing and browsing every before and after photo I could find. This blog will be a combination of my own projects, things that inspire me, and a place to show my own home renovations, how-to’s, and my own before and afters.  I hope that my journey can serve as inspiration to someone else someday, since I have been inspired so greatly by other bloggers who have chosen to share their passion with the world.
Welcome!
